Milton Keynes 2011 show - Report

by Paul Gyngell

Northants Model Makers made their annual pilgrimage to the Milton Keynes show recently, occupying 12ft of space on the top floor of the building. In attendance were Bob Humpage, Paul and Nathaniel Gyngell and Paul Goldfarb. Our location in the “disused” bar area on the very top floor was disappointing due to the lack of adequate lighting, however we made the most of it by placing our display against the windows using the available ambient light. Perhaps an investment in our own spotlights might be a thought for next year!

We put on a varied display as usual which received good reviews from visitors.

The show itself was well attended with the additional hall providing more stalls, although, again, a little dark in places. The usual array of IPMS same-subject models were in abundance which, although not my personal cup of tea, were still impressive in the quality of work on show.

A visit from Darth Vader and a Stormtrooper made for an interesting interlude, pleasing the kids in attendance with photographs etc.

All in all an enjoyable day, a chance for a gossip with other exhibitors plus an opportunity to advertise our Model-Ex with banners hanging from the balcony. (Bob, try and keep a hold of it next time rather than letting it fall, narrowly missing the stalls below!)

Pictures to Follow!!.......
