Hendon Model Show
6.30 Sunday the 20th
of May saw 9 club members meeting at the school to set of for the RAF Museum at
Hendon to exhibit at their model show organised in conjunction with local clubs
.We reached the museum around 7.30 and found it fairly quiet. We booked in with
security and made our way to or 18ft of exhibition space amongst the helicopter
section of the hanger. We were based in the shadow of a Belvedere twin rotor
helicopter (the forerunner of the Chinook). We were ideally placed for visitors
to peruse a good mixture of models on our stand as we were on the main route
through the hanger for modellers aiming for the retailers section. Many were
observed carrying bags and boxes in the other direction. We spent the next 8
hours chatting to like minded modellers and general visitors to the museum,
also enjoying the wide range of museum and other club exhibits ourselves. This
was our first foray into this show and our thanks go to the organisers and the RAF
Museum for allowing us to exhibit.
My thanks also go to the members of our club who got out of bed early on a
Sunday morning to exhibit at the show.
