Earls Barton 2012
Thursday 23rd of August saw me hitching up the
caravan and towing it out to Earls Barton for their Country fair and rally and
Friday saw me towing the club trailer. Whilst sorting the van out for sleeping
we discovered the previous owner had altered the wiring and somehow bypassed
the battery (we had only used the van on mains before this) as we did not have
a generator with us this meant we had to do without lights and water pump for
the weekend relying on water carriers and gas lanterns. It worked though.
Friday saw Rob and I erecting all 36 foot of the club stand. It’s true it does
get easier every time it goes up. The evening saw other members of the club
arriving and decorating the stand with their models and preparing the tombola.
A wide range of models were on show, once again showing the breadth of interest
our members have. The show was a great success with only a few short showers to
mar the event (a great relief after all the other cancelled shows this year)
A lot of interest was
shown in our display and we chatted to a lot of those passing by. The Tombola
was also a great success raising over £180 to help run the club. As usual these
shows seem to be over so fast and Bank Holiday Monday saw the breakdown of the
model displays in the craft tent. My thanks go to the organisers of the rally,
Pat Conroy who sorts out the tent and to our club members who attended the show
and made it worthwhile. BH.
