Model-Ex2013 Breaks Records
I am
pleased to announce that over the weekend of the 6th and 7th
of April, we held another successful model exhibition. We filled twelve
classrooms, both halls, both libraries and various corridors with over 3000
models of all kinds. There were seven model railways, around 60 R/C boats some
taking to the water, 60 R/C tanks re-creating WWII battles, model aircraft
taking to the skies, model hovercrafts whizzing over the playgrounds and scale
models of all types built by modellers of all abilities and all ages.
Over 800
people visited the show over the two days. Raising over £2000 for the first
time in seven shows, with nearly £1800 for the school and around £250 for
Northants Model Makers. My thanks go to the Head of the school Miss M Ginn and
the Governors for their permission to stage the show, also to all those who
helped organise it, and lastly to those who travelled far and wide to exhibit
and to all those who supported us as visitors.
George Robins Trophy A Big well done to paul goldfarb for winning this years George Robins Trophy. This years theme was "D Day Funnies" . A number of unusually modified tanks operated during the Second World War by the United Kingdom's 79th Armoured Division or by specialists from the Royal Engineers. Although
there wasnt a massive amount of models in this years competition, Pauls
highly detailed & very nicely put together tank won the trophy so a
very well deserved congratulations from all the NMM members.
About NMM Northants Model Makers was
formed by a group of dedicated modellers in 2003 to encourage the art of model
making in all of its forms.
Our members all have their own speciality in modelling but actively encourage
all of our members to enhance their own field of modelling and to learn from
other members modelling techniques.
Our club is open to
modellers of all ages, ability and interests.
We have been responsible
for Model-Ex shows at Windmill Primary school in Raunds, Northamptonshire, since
the club formation. During these shows we have raised nearly £9000 for the
school, and have had about 8000 people through the door.
We also attend various
Steam Rallies and Town and Village shows in order to promote model making to a
wide a range of people as possible.
NMM NOW AVAILABLE FOR TALKS
Northants Model Makers are pleased
to be able to let clubs and institutions know that we are now available
to give talks on the various aspects of all types of model making. They
will be illustrated with books, pictures,
catalogues and models. The aim is to let people know what the history
of modelling is, informing ex modellers what has changed and available
now and educating prospective model makers on the wide range of models
and modelling tools now on sale. We are willing to give talks to a wide
range of clubs including Scouts, Cubs, youth groups, TWGs, WIs, fellowship groups and residential
homes. Northants Model Makers is a club that was formed seven years ago
with the aim of promoting model making to everyone, regardless of age
or ability. We organise the largest model show of its type in Raunds on
a yearly basis and have raised nearly £7000 for Windmill Primary School over the past five shows.. If
anyone would like a talk in the Northamptonshire area please
contact the Secretary on 01933 312364 or the
Chairman on 07960054405.
Many thanks Bob Humpage, Chairman
NMM.
